Bookmarked: The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells

Image
Hey y'all let's see what's up today! This was on my reading list that I didn't quite finish for April and I was really glad to have the chance to finish it in May. This is a staple in classic horror, and I was lucky to find a pocket edition around the same time that I bought my pocket edition of Carmilla and I think I only paid about $6 for my paperback. As always with any book that I review, please check the content warnings before proceeding with your own reading, there may also be more upsetting things in the novel, I tend to just note things that jump out at me that could make the characters or the story a hard read for others. Additionally, as with every book review, I've included a playlist for you guys to listen to while you read 🫥🧪🕶The Invisible Man🕶🧪🫥 Content Warnings: Scientific Experiments, Aggressive Behavior, Rude Behavior, Gossip, Racism, Bullying, Mentions of Deformities, Burglary, Insults, Fights, Theft, Threats of Physical Violence...

Closet Confessions: Business Wear and Personal Style

Image
Hey y'all lets see what's up today! This section is where I talk all things fashion. I really like fashion just as a topic of discussion, I shop a lot of second hand stores and small businesses and I really just like having a place to express my thoughts on various things in the fashion industry as a whole. In this post I wanted to talk about business wear and personal style because that's something that I know a lot of people struggle with and there are often times where your job dress code clashes with your personal style and that is just no fun for anyone involved. I'm going to share some tips on what I do to personally spice up my wardrobe and hopefully I can help you out along the way. I've been doing secretarial work since I was 14 and so I've got a lot of experience on this particular subject. #1: Browse No matter what your style may be, there are actually a lot of options to find business wear. I get most of mine from Goodwill, ot...

Bookmarked: The Starving Saints

Hey y'all let's see what's up today! This book came highly recommended to me, and I was so excited to get started on reading it I almost couldn't contain myself. This is a medieval horror novel, and I'll be completely honest guys I purely picked it up because the cover was pretty. I have no shame in that, most of the books I picked up and adored I picked because of their cover art, it hasn't led me astray yet! I would also love to direct you guys to an artist named Annalise Jensen, she made some fantastic art of these characters and it's actually another reason I was prompted to pick up the book.  Please note religion plays a very large part in this novel. As such, I was reminded of my own experiences and I will be somewhat touching on that in my review. If that is something that will make you uncomfortable this is your warning to please skip over it. Additionally, as always, I've created a playlist for you all to enjoy while you read! 🐝🏰...

Whiskful Thinking: Taco Bell Dupe

Image
Hey y'all let's see what's up today! This recipe is going to be similar to my Southwest Burrito recipe, which you can also find under the Whiskful Thinking section here on my blog. However, today we're going to be making fast food at home. I owe this idea to AppleSauceandADHD on TikTok, who inspired me to share my own version of this recipe. This is just going to be for the meat filling because I don't know how you guys like to assemble your tacos. This recipe is not vegetarian or vegan, and potentially not Kosher or Halal friendly, however you can swap ingredients as needed. I have made this with plant based "ground beef" and its come out basically the same. Ingredients 🌮 1 Package of Ground Turkey, Chicken, or Beef 🌮 1 Can of Beans, Drained (Optional) 🌮 1 Package of Frozen Fire Roasted Corn (Optional) 🌮 1 Package of Taco Seasoning 🌮 1/2 Cup of Water The Details Start by heating up your skillet, I put mine on medi...

Image
Hey y'all let's see what's up today! So I made banana bread for the first time, and it didnt turn out quite the way I'd hoped because I used the wrong flour, but it was still really good so I wanted to share this recipe for a chocolate banana bread. This recipe also works for regular banana bread, just remove the Nutella and chocolate chips. This recipe can be vegetarian, vegan, Kosher, and Halal friendly. However, I used eggs for mine, but you may substitute them if your dietary restrictions require it. Horror Hub: Support Your Local Cemetery Scavenger Hunt

Image
Hey y'all let's see what's up today! This weekend I had the pleasure of taking part in a "Support Your Local Cemetery" Scavenger Hunt. This scavenger hunt was hosted by my horror fanclub the Midnight Monsters Club, and it took place in cemeteries nation wide on Saturday. There were a few groups that had teamed up, but unfortunately none of my fellow monsters lived close enough to me for the event, so I brought my dad along just because I wasn't really comfortable going to cemeteries by myself in some of the areas where historic cemeteries were. I was really glad that we had the chance to migrate to different cemeteries, as the historic burial grounds in my area were rather small. We had 60 tasks in total to complete, and 24 hours to complete the tasks. There was a mix of photography, writing, research, and even a bit of music being shared as we crawled amongst the crypts for the day. Because I took so many photos while I was out hunting I'm just going to s...

Hey y'all let's see what's up today! As part of my goal to read a lot of books this month, the next most voted on novel was the Edge of Sleep. Mindful Moments: Knowing When to Step Back

Image
Hey y'all let's see what's up today! In this section of the blog, I wanted to hopefully share some mental health tips or things that I do to make myself feel better when the world feels like it's falling in. This is going to be kind of like a Chatterbox post but we're going to be doing open discussions about mental health. Please note that I am not a licensed professional, my only experience with mental illness and mental health is.... well living with it. However, I find that sometimes just talking things out and listening to other people that also struggle helps more than sitting in a therapists office for me.  As the title might suggest, today we're going to be talking about knowing when to step back from a situation if you are able. I fully acknowledge that I'm incredibly lucky to have a job that allows me to take mental health breaks and focus on myself when I need to, I know that not every job is that lenient. Because of that I'm not going to be ...
