  Hey y'all let's see what's up today! February brought along its own set of challenges, however it also brought in more time spent with my family which I will always appreciate. Seasonal depression decided to hit me like a freight train this month, which is why the blog content has been so monotonous and I can't even find the words to express how sorry I am for that. This blog and my horror club are genuine the two things that I look forward to the most outside of some time with my friends and family. This is also the type of thing that I wanted to stay away from when I started this blog and I feel like I am really slipping back into some old habits. Goals My goals for the month of February were to write, draw, and read every day for the month. Hey y'all let's see what's up today! Today I wanted to discuss trends and self expression. Trends are no stranger here on this blog, we've discussed them a lot in the past and will definitely continue to discuss them as they progress and change. However, do trends take away self expression? That's going to be what we're going to find out.  My Personal Opinion  Personally, I think it largely depends on the person. Some people latch onto trends and will maintain those aesthetics regardless of whether or not they maintain popularity. Others, such as influencers, jump on the fast changing trends and often switch everything up in order to stay relevant or keep their brand deals. I don't really follow trends unless I actually take an interest in them. I think that's the best way to keep wasteful spending, and waste in general to a minimum. Hey y'all let's see what's up today! I had a different post planned today, however Monster High released a new Skullector doll that immediately caught my attention. I'll be revealing the doll here at the end, but first I wanted to introduce the Skullector doll line for those that may be unfamiliar. What Are Skullectors? Monster High is a doll brand created by Mattel toys that featured the children of famous monsters like Frankenstein and Dracula. The brands debuted around 2009, and was immediately a favorite of adults and children alike. I happen to genuinely like both, and I think to fully understand the horror genre you have to be open to consuming both types of media. Hey y'all let's see what's up today! I was finally able to make it out to the theatre to go watch Iron Lung last week and all I can say is just... wow. This indie creature feature was written and directed by Mark Fischbach or as many of us may know him Markiplier, who is also playing our main character. The film is based off of a video game by the same title, created by David Szymanski, which released in 2022. Now, I have been a fan of Mr. Fischbach and his work since I was about 12 or 13, so to keep this review completely unbiased I invited my dad along with me. My dad had no idea who Markiplier was until this film, so his opinion wasn't swayed whatsoever by nostalgia.  That being said, I've been so excited to work on this review. Hey y'all let's see what's up today! Today is Friday the 13th, and as such I wanted to use today's horror hub post to kind of explore the history of it. This is going to kind of be a learning moment for the both of us because despite my love of horror, folklore, and things of thst nature I've never researched anything about this so I'm excited! The History The Friday the 13th's tract record of being filled with bad luck actually started within Christianity. The number 13 was considered unlucky because of the disciples Judas's presence at the Last Supper, making him the 13th in attendance and the one that, in the end, would turn Jesus over to authorities leading to his crucifixion. Additionally, many unfortunate and downright tragic events of the Bible were believed to have occurred more on Fridays than any other day of the week. The combination of these two beliefs led to the belief that Friday the 13th was the unluckiest day. However...

This week's discussion topic is brought us by a news segment I caught pieces of in passing, along with things that I've seen just kind of floating around out there on the internet. That is technology, and specifically where it starts hurting us more than it helps us. I'm not the biggest fan of modern tech, though I love being able to talk to my friends long distance and share fun things, like this blog for instance. However, there comes a point in which technology becomes too much.  So, what can we do to utilize these advancements more responsibly? How can we avoid becoming too reliant on technology? Given the current season, I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of valentine's day or romance themed horror movies for you guys to enjoy this holiday. I took to the Midnight Monsters Club for some recommendations, and did some additional digging of my own to see what else I could find.
